Lina Kusaite is a freelance illustrator, concept artist and art coach, working in Brussels, Belgium. Her professional life was influenced by a mix of Post Soviet, Dutch and French education systems in the Arts and Fashion Design disciplines. Such a varied mix has taught her to balance different art techniques with strong concept development. Her curiosity and desire to learn and understand our world’s complexity brought her to Brussels in 2001, where she joined the trans-disciplinary laboratory and research group ‘FoAM’.
During 10 years of collaborative work with FoAM, she took on the roles of an experimental textile designer, production manager, office manager, illustrator, concept artist for game design, permaculture garden designer, and workshop facilitator. FoAM created her many opportunities to work on different collaborative projects together with people from diverse disciplines including technology, biology, craft, cooking, gardening and many more. Lina was instrumental in the development of a series of interactive environments through her skills in both textile and space design.Together with Performing Pictures in Sweden, she developed the interactive installation ‘Immanentia’ which was presented at the international film festival in Rotterdam in 2010.
Lina has also illustrated for several publications with companies including ER design in Israel, ‘Nieko Rimto’ & ‘Alma littera’ in Lithuania. Apart from books, Lina designed characters and environments for the computer games such as: ‘groWorld’ and ‘Germinationx’ by FoAM, ‘8’ and ‘Endless Forest’ by Tale-of-Tales, Gent, Belgium.
Over the last years, Lina’s main source of creative activities became Nature and it’s ecosystems. This evolved into interest in designing indoor and outdoor sustainable green environments, looking at the balance between local plant ecosystems and urban environments.
Lina successfully designs and facilitates one-to-one art coaching sessions, helping people to find their own creative ways to express themselves. This includes discovering different techniques or revealing your own creative potential, by playing, observing and hands-on activities.
